Change what your licence allows
You can apply to change what your licence or permit allows you to do.
This may affect your obligations and annual renewal fees.
Apply at least 9 to 11 weeks before you need the change to take effect.
You can apply to change your licence or permit conditions, such as:
- trading hours
- maximum patron capacity
- size of your licensed area (red line plan)
- general conditions of the licence or permit.
Application fees
If you want to vary your licence or permit conditions, you need to pay a non-refundable application fee(opens in a new window) (unless you are reducing your trading hours, patron capacity or licensed area).
The fee is $252.20.
To apply:

Reduced trading hours, patron capacity and venue size
It is free to reduce either your:
- trading hours
- maximum patron capacity
- size of your licensed area.

If you are a live music venue with live music conditions on your licence, you can apply to change them for:
- security guards (crowd controllers)
- CCTV cameras
- Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) trained staff.
There is no fee to apply for these changes.

How to apply

3. Email the form to contact@liquor.vic.gov.au.
You can tell us the maximum number of customers your function room holds.
This may reduce your renewal fees if:
- your function room is currently included in your venue’s maximum patron capacity
- you do not use the function room as part of your regular operations (it’s only used for functions).
There is no fee to apply.
How to apply

3. Email the form to contact@liquor.vic.gov.au.
You can apply to allow another business to:
- operate part of your licensed venue and serve your alcohol as part of their business
- sublet part of your licensed venue.
You can apply for one or both of these options.
This is only for areas included in your red line plan.
You need to pay a non-refundable application fee.
The fee is $252.20.
If you apply for both approvals, you pay double.
How to apply

3. Email the form to contact@liquor.vic.gov.au.
If you have a producer's licence, you can apply for approval to sell your own alcohol at promotional events (for example, farmers' markets, festivals).
You need to pay a non-refundable application fee.
The fee is $168.10.
If you apply to make any other changes at the same time, the fee will be higher.
